Roos great Jack Ziebell spends night in hospital after ‘unprovoked attack’

North Melbourne veteran Jack Ziebell spent Saturday night in hospital after the retiring great was the victim of an alleged unprovoked coward punch

News of the attack was first reported by SEN, with Ziebell hospitalised as a result of the incident and booked in for facial surgery this week.

After playing his 280th and final AFL game on Saturday, Ziebell was out celebrating his career with family and friends

including Richmond’s Dustin Martin and Collingwood’s Tom Mitchell, according to the Herald Sun — at The Osborne hotel

It’s alleged the trio, who were unknown to Ziebell, had earlier been ejected from the establishment after a “push and shove” scuffle inside it.

Detectives were on the scene on Sunday morning. Multiple outlets reported a small trail of blood was seen on the footpath outside the venue.

The Kangaroos released a statement on Sunday morning saying they were “aware of an incident involving Jack Ziebell at a South Yarra bar overnight”.
